Prayer List of June, 2004

  1. Pray for the senate*s debate on gay marriage issue 每 During Jul 12 to 15th, the Senate will debate about the legitimacy of gay marriage. NY*s senate representatives are Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Hilary Clinton. Both seem to support the right of gay marriage. Let*s pray first for the Lord*s will be done; then for more Senators to uphold the institution of marriage as created by God.
  2. Pray for peace in Middle East 每 Even though the United States had handed over governing power to Iraqi, there are still bombing and attacks. Let*s pray for the safety of Americans and Iraqi people; moreover, let*s pray for the missionaries who are risking their lives to spread gospel there!
  3. Pray for Brother WeiDong 每 Brother WeiDong has arrived in LA, and is currently in job-search process. Let*s pray that he finds a solid offer soon; more importantly, let*s pray that he finds a good church/fellowship to grow in.
  4. Pray for True Life Counseling Ministry 每 TLCM is currently raising funds to set up a counseling center for the benefit of Chinese Christians and church. Let*s pray that the Lord inspires brothers/sisters to give generously. Also please pray for Minister Taiying Lee for her trip to teach in Taiwan and Korea. May the Lord greatly use Min. Taiying to help promote the Gospel.
  5. Pray for CCYF*s efforts in evangelism and growth 每 CCYF*s mission consists of evangelism to Chinese students/young professionals near Columbia U areas, also to foster spiritual growth of brothers/sisters through weekly bible study and group activities. Let*s pray for divine guidance and blessings to help us grow in both areas.

The following are excerpts from Pray for China email list:

  6. Pray for powerful testimony of Christian relief work in Taiwan - Typhoon Mindulle caused the worst flooding, mudslides in 25 years for central and southern Taiwan. Death toll has risen to more than 20 with more missing. The island has endured a series of natural disasters and diplomatic setbacks in recent years. We pray for the churches to be a powerful testimony and for the Christian relief work that is always shadowed by the Buddhist.
  7. Pray for graduates from seminaries this summer for their service in church and for their families - 1 in 4 who took the college entrance examination, is not accepted. In the society that stress academic achievements, as in previous years, several well-publicized suicides of depressed students followed. We pray specially for all the graduates (2000 or so) from seminaries this summer, for the churches they will be leading, for their families in the adjustment.
  8. Pray for local church*s evangelism in the Pearl River Delta region - churches are facing great challenges to serve in newer communities and the huge influx of peasant labors. Not only we pray for all the churches in the Pearl River Delta, including Hong Kong, we also remember the movement to build shop-churches, small congregation meeting in store near the factories.
  9. Pray for revival of churches in Shanghai - Whitney Houston will perform in Shanghai, the city with China's highest family income, which has hosted several foreign big artists. Authorities ordered Shanghai female TV presenters to wear less-revealing clothing, as part of the nationwide morality campaign. We pray for Bible-based morality in Middle Kingdom, in a nation with an insatiable appetite for Hollywood stardoms. Pray especially for revival of the churches in Shanghai.
