The following are excerpts from Pray for China email list:
-
Pray for leaders in China and Taiwan - On New Year£§s Day,
Chairman Hu Jing Tao repeated the commitment of "Peaceful Unification,
One country, Two Systems,£˘ as 100,000 marched peacefully in Hong Kong
and demanded more room for democracy. We pray again for the leaders,
for wisdom and divine guidance. We remember the many churches on the 2
islands that will participate in the coming Purpose Driven Life
campaign.
-
Pray for workers in China - 80% of city construction workers,
Ming Gong, are farmers. They number 38 millions. The Government said
that many are owed back-wages and unable to return home for Chinese
New Year (Jan 22nd). We pray for churches in villages as they reach
out to those who will return home for the coming 2 weeks holidays.
-
Pray for b/s in missionary fields - In the past weeks, several
thousands students attended various mission conferences in North
America that were focused on the need of churches in China. Many
dedicated themselves to serve in the mission field and will return to
China. Let us pray for these new fruits and especially for the one
hundred Mainland Chinese attending seminaries abroad.
-
Pray for education system in China - Illegal fees like forced
donations and desk-and-chair fees are rampant. 20% of schools
overcharge a total of 21.4 billion yuan (US$2.6 billion), in recent
inspection of 60,000 schools in 20 provinces. We will continue praying
for the Sunday School's need. It is not legal and the shortage for
properly trained teachers is desperate.
